Network Marketing Success - Leadership Doesn’t Develop in a Day

The authentic evidence of leadership is not where you commence…it is where you end up!

I am going to provide you seven basic aspects that will progress as a person becomes recognized as a successful leader:

1. The "character" of the person: Who you are…

Becoming a true leader without the "inner person" being of impeccable character is just not possible. The 1st thing you will need to begin developing if you will be a leader is your character…who you actually are when you are alone. Honesty, reliability, trustworthiness, servant hood, generosity, consideration etc…this is where real leadership begins. This is why a person like Billy Graham was successful in drawing more & more followers as time went by. His authority increased to being asked to counsel presidents as well as world and national leaders. People feel they are able to discern the incredible profundity of his integrity.

Character makes trust possible…and trust makes leadership possible.

2. The relationships a person has: Who you know…

You are only a leader if you have people following you, and having followers without exception means the developing of relationships. The deeper the relationships you develop…the stronger your possibility for influence. If you would like to be a leader you must build sincere relationships. This is a continuing process.

3. The knowledge a person has: What you know…

Facts alone will never enable anyone to be a leader, but without it you will never rise to genuine leadership either. You will need an awareness of the facts, the issues concerned as well as a vision for where you are going

4. The "sixth sense" or intuition a person possesses: What you feel…

Leadership requires more than just knowledge or information.

Any time leaders find themselves facing a problem, they routinely measure it and embark on solving it…using a mixture of information and instinct.

Who you are determines to a very large extent what you see.

5. The experience a person has: Where you've been…

Like knowledge…experience by itself will not make a credible leader…but it will make it more likely that potential followers will give you an opportunity to establish yourself. If you've faced some challenges in the past it is reasonable to believe you have learned some things.

6. The past achievements a person has had: What you've done…

This quality is very much a progression. There is nothing that seeds confidence in impending followers like an impressive track record. If you are just beginning your journey in leadership it does not mean you can't be a leader now. Everyone must begin somewhere. Even those who are well-known as leadership icons had to start somewhere. But you cannot expect to have similar credibility or similar following as the person with a great track record…they have established themselves and earned their status. This is why leadership is a process. Your leadership credibility will start off diminutive…but as you obtain a few achievements your credibility will develop. Everyone has to start somewhere…and as you extend yourself, take some calculated risks and succeed, followers have an added reason to commit to your leadership ability and listen to what you have to say.

7. The abilities a person has: What you can do…

When all is said and done, followers have to believe that you are able to do what needs to be done. That is the basis on which they will pay attention to what you suggest and acknowledge you as their leader. If along the way they start to believe that you are not able to deliver, they will cease listening to you and stop following.

People pay attention not necessarily for the reason that what is being spoken is correct, but instead because of their high opinion for the individual speaking.

If you notice a disparity between who has the "title" and who is leading the people, then the person with the title is not the actual leader.

How do leaders earn respect? By making sound decisions, being humble to admit their mistakes, and putting what is in the best interests of their followers and organization ahead of their own individual agendas.
